Packaging
Waste stays wet and goes into two bags of 6-mil plastic or other leak-tight packaging. Nothing is stored loose on site while it waits.
Disposal is included in our removal prices
Asbestos waste is not ordinary trash. Oregon allows it only at landfills DEQ has permitted to accept it, wet and double-bagged, with a shipment form that travels with the load. We pack, label and haul the waste from the removal jobs we do.
Hillsboro Landfill is on DEQ’s list of landfills permitted to take asbestos, and Metro names it as one of two landfills close to the Portland area that can. We handle disposal for jobs in Hillsboro, Forest Grove and Cornelius.

Each package carries an asbestos warning label with the name of whoever removed it and the address it came from. A completed waste shipment form, the ASN-4, goes to the landfill with the load.
The landfill has to know the type and amount of waste and approve it before delivery. DEQ suggests calling at least 24 hours ahead, and some landfills take asbestos by appointment only.
Doing the work yourself doesn’t change where the waste can go. Metro’s household hazardous waste sites accept a household’s asbestos only in small amounts: at most two 25-pound bags a day, each sealed in double-lined 6-mil asbestos bags under 3 feet long. Past 50 pounds, a permitted landfill is the only option.
Metro transfer stations screen construction and demolition loads. Debris from a home built before 2004 needs a printed survey report or lab results showing 1% asbestos or less, and flat or built-up roofing is turned away even with clean results.
